Welcome to The Stevens Company, Inc. — Everything in Cleaning Supplies!
Founded in 1936, the Stevens Company was purchased by J. Denny Stevens in 1948. He was followed by his son, J. Denny Stevens II, who joined the company in 1963, enjoyed a long, successful career, and continues to be involved in an advisory role. The company is proud to be in its third generation of family ownership, with Denny's daughter, Rebecca Stevens, as the majority owner and President. With deep roots and a 75 year history, we are committed members of the Blair County community, not just on a corporate level, but also on an individual level.
When it comes to cleaning supplies and equipment, we are excellent at helping our customers save money. Experts have determined that when cleaning a facility, 90% of the cost is taken up by labor, and only 10% is on supplies. We can show you how to reduce your labor dollars by determining the best products and procedures, and getting you those products in a timely fashion at a fair price. Another trend in our industry is that the manufacturers are taking standard sizes and gauges, making it difficult for end users to compare one product with another. A case is not a case anymore. Just like a can of coffee isn't a pound any more, we have seen competitive 96 roll, 500 sheet cases of 2-ply bath tissue containing half as much paper as it did 10 years ago! Our staff is well-versed in making these differences clear.
Another value we provide to our customers is helping them create and maintain a safe environment. The ways we do that include:
Preventing slips and falls
Preventing worker fatigue and potential strain or injury
Preventing or reducing the spread of germs
Reducing negative environmental impacts
Whether you need help "going green", starting a comprehensive handwashing and sanitizing program, or any other safety related concern, our staff is ready to help you get there.
Regarding the movement towards going green, we are the local experts, as it pertains to cleaning and maintenance. Many manufacturers and products claim to be "green", but it is important for every customer to clearly define what is important for them, within the movement. We not only offer a wide variety of highly effective products that are certified by either Green Seal or EcoLogo, but also offer equipment, matting, and other tools that can help your organization gain LEED points. Whether conserving resources, using safer materials for people or the planet, promoting environmental leadership, or saving money are your specific concerns, we can guide you through the process of creating a greener environment.
You don't have to be a huge corporation for us to bring value to your organization. We provide solutions every day to professional offices, factories, schools, universities, hospitals, nursing homes, houses of worship and community service organizations.
We have almost 1000 items in stock, and have access to thousands more from various manufacturers. Our in house technician has been factory trained to repair the equipment brands we sell, and can sometimes help with other brands too. Our sales representatives are happy to come to customer locations and provide their expertise in troubleshooting various cleaning and maintenance challenges.
Are buying group affiliations and state contracted pricing important to you? Because of our long term membership in Triple S (Standardized Sanitation Systems), we can offer a wide variety of products under Pennyslvania's CoStars Program, GSA, AbilityOne, Trinity, and JaniKing National accounts programs. Buckeye International is also a CoStars participant, and our various equipment lines offer a variety of special price programs such as State Select and State Contract.
